How We Do It

Laminating

RGH's pressure and heated laminating facilities are capable of combining most types and thicknesses of material with adhesives in order to produce finished products or prepare product for subsequent operations. Laminating adhesives onto foams, fabrics and plastics is possible up to 1500mm wide. Sheets and rolls can be laminated and joined to meet exact requirements.

Slitting

Reel to reel slitting - RGH’s reel-to-reel facility enables us to offer rolls of material cut to specific lengths and slit to widths from 12mm to 1600mm. With laser core and knife positioning RGH's compact winding and slitting unit enables very tight tolerance slitting with tolerances as low as +/- 0.5mm.

Automatic log slitting - With Manual and CNC controlled roll slitting available, RGH can produce rolls ranging from 3mm to 1500mm in width. This form of cutting is highly accurate, quick to set up and capable of small and large volumes of work. Short lead times are available due to the short set up time and there is a large scope for the sizes available rather than simply offering "off the shelf" standard sizes.

Rotary Die Cutting - RGH's rotary die cutting machines allow for an extremely fast and highly accurate means for creating basic or highly complex components.

With servo assisted measuring capabilities RGH's rotary machines can produce kiss cut strips of almost any length which gives great flexibility in terms of the size of pad or strip that you need.

With their own laminating facility as well as waste removal stations, these machines give vast scope for design flexibility. As with the flat bed machinery, rotary cutting allows for products to be presented in a variety of ways enabling ease of application for our customers.

Although rotary tooling can initially be seen to be quite expensive, the speed with which product can be manufactured makes rotary die cutting a cost effective way of manufacturing parts. RGH pride themselves on owning one of the most extensive ranges of rotary tooling in the UK so if you would like a particular size or shape of component made then please call and one of our sales team will be able to let you know exactly what is available, chances are that we will already have the tool to suit your requirements!

Flat bed die cutting - RGH's four flat bed die cutting machines are capable of producing almost any shaped gasket, pad or strip that is required. With capabilities to kiss cut up to 650mm x 500mm components these machines not only create custom made products but RGH will also suggest ways to present these products to encourage ease of application. Multi-wide, kiss-cut, cut through, sheeted, fingeredge or waste removed are just six formats with which we can provide your parts. Prototype work is often carried out using flat bed technology before committing to rotary tooling.

CNC Die Cutting - RGH's automatic travelling head press allows for individual gaskets to be die cut from most self adhesive and non adhesive materials within our extensive range in a fast and effective manner. Both small and relatively large individual parts can be produced using the CNC press and a nesting option is available enabling optimum yields and efficiency.

The CNC Die cutter is the fastest way to produce individual complicated gaskets and we also offer a hole removal service for parts so that our customers can receive a complete and easy to use product.

Manual presses - The manual head press and the swing beam press produce individual parts ranging from intricate, very small pieces which need individual handling to large single die cuts, profiles and gaskets. From tiny washers to gaskets 1.4 meters in width, these presses have low initial tooling costs and most materials within our range can be cut on these machines giving great flexibility. Although these presses may be slower than some of our other machinery, the manual placement of tools allows for efficient yields and a great deal of care and attention for every part produced. Small production runs are possible with these machines.

Guillotine and metre wide kiss cutter

RGH’s guillotine is a single blade machine that produces individually cut strips or sheets ranging from 6mm to 1 meter in width. The meter wide kiss cutter works on a similar basis to the guillotine but allows strips and sheets of up to 1 meter in width to be kiss cut onto rolls, which not only eases application for customers but also reduces packaging and storage of products.Both of these machines have a laminating facility allowing materials to be bonded with adhesive at the same time as being slit therefore reducing processes and manufacturing times.

The volume of work, accuracy required, detail of a part and type of material being cut are just four factors that helps determine the type of tooling required to manufacture a product in the most successful manner. RGH have one of the most extensive ranges of rotary tooling in the UK. As well as this, the introduction or rotary slitting tools and servo assisted cutting stations allows for a vast number of pad sizes to be produced from the tools that are already in-house - double sided foam strips in excess of 2 meters in length! If you have a particular size of pad or strip that you currently purchase and you are concerned that in order to resource that you may be forced to buy new tooling then please ask us, we may already have the tooling available that you require!

Testing capabilities

Testing capabilities

RGH’s in-house testing capabilities mean that our customers have peace of mind when placing an order with RGH. Peace of mind that the materials used are to the correct specification, the dimensions are within specified tolerances and also that that the product will adhere to the substrate that you require.

Capabilities include a multi-purpose mechanical testing system which enables tensile and compression testing; however, it also performs bend, peel, shear, tear and cyclic tests.

The advantage of having such equipment means that rather than guessing whether certain adhesives will stick to your substrate, why not send RGH your material and allow the testing process to determine which adhesive is most suitable for the job?

Other capabilities include a 2-axis measuring microscope which provides fast and accurate 2-axis measurement of precision component parts. From simple manual, single-feature operation to more complex component part measurement, our measuring facilities combine high resolution, high contrast optical images with an intuitive microprocessor to deliver accuracy for a wide range of measuring applications. The superior optical image even allows difficult-to-view products to be measured on low contrast components, such as black or transparent plastics. Should you require components to be manufactured to a tight tolerance then this equipment is ideal to ensure that RGH never fail to deliver within spec.
